"Nice design, but a little unstable" 2010-06-28
By G. Gibson (California)
I have two accoustic guitars, and this stand fits both nicely (one is an Ovation with rounded back). On a hard surface, this does a great job of holding your guitar, and looks unlike any other guitar stand I have seen. Because of the design component, it is more living room friendly, but I would be very hesitant to use it on carpet. On my carpeted floor it felt pretty unstable, and so it ended up in my garage music room wih hard floors. If you do not have kids or pets, this may not be as much of an issue.

Very nice. Looks better than the industrial black plastic or metal from which most stands are made. I use the "normal" stands in my music room, and I use this one in the living room.

"Stageline stand allows the guitar to shine." 2010-05-19
By Jayson L. Bowerman (High cascades Oregon)
This is a well built, futuristic stand which perfectly complements a modern guitar. It does a great job of supporting a wide variety of guitar sizes while keeping the lines of the guitar unencumbered by a neck yoke or other visual distractions. Looks like something out of a sci fi flick and gets lots of comments at guitar shows.

"Cool, and does the job" 2010-02-24
By Edrick Deery
This is a cool little stand. The black parts on the bottom legs are foam and so are the pads on the vertical arms that support the back of the guitar. This fit well into a confined space, which is just want I needed. My guitar "rests" in the stand fairly securely for there being no neck support.

The stand collapses really easily for storage or travel. It comes with an allen wrench for adjustment or tightening of the screws that hold the arms, legs, and rear supports in position. I opted to use the included allen wrench to tighten the screws so that the stand wouldn't get inadvertently folded in (collapsed). I don't think this is necessary but I did it just for my own piece of mind.

I would recommend this product. I would have given it 5 stars if it included a support for the neck of the guitar.

"Sleek Looking Stand for Grown Ups" 2010-01-27
By E. Bennett (Seattle, WA)
I bought this for my husband so he could keep his guitar out in the living room. I hated the metal/plastic guitar stands that look like they only belong in a 14 year old boy's room. This looks nice enough to be in a grown-up living room with nice furniture. It's also very sturdy and folds up quickly and easily to be moved or stored. We've had the guitar out ever since we got it.

I received my guitar with a cracked/ chipped bottom. the strings were not strung in the right order. i guess you get what you pay for. but i wouldnt buy something like this over the internet. i mean, the UPS guy left my house with the back door swinging open on the truck so i cant imagine they really care about the condition of your instrument. the only thing i have to do is re string my guitar and tune it. other than that its a pretty nice guitar. ill never buy a guitar over the internet again, i'd rather pay top dollar at a guitar shop and have evertything dead on than deal with this nonsence again..GOOD LUCK!!

 "What a Deal" 2010-08-02
By Fat Daddy (southern Oklahoma)
I'm not a musician. In fact, I bought this guitar to learn on. But I easily tuned it with an IPhone app, and it stays in tune during my fumbling practice sessions. Sounds great. As with most lower end acoustics, the strings are too high. But this will help in the long run when you graduate to a Gibson or Fender, and you are ready for another level of music. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Well made. Sounds good. Get yourself a stand, and it looks awesome in the corner of your livingroom! ~Wolf

 "Good for the money" 2010-03-27
By k3lp
If you're looking for your first guitar, it'll do.

I thought mine had a scratch on the pick guard when it came. I eventually realized there was a protective film (clear plastic like on a new watch) that came covering the guard, and the scratch was only on that.

It's cheap and the action is a little high for a newbie (the strings are higher off the fret board which makes learning the guitar even more painful). I couldn't get the 2nd string to sound right. I thought it was because I'm suck at guitar, but I bought new strings anyway and put them on myself and now it sounds great. I think I might have damaged the strings when I was opening the package.

Overall I'm happy and would recommend this to anyone who just wants to test the waters and see if the whole "guitar thing" sticks.

Oh yeah, left handed ... blah blah blah

"Pefect for the beginner guitarist" 2010-03-16
By Hannibal (New York)
I've been playing classical nylon sting guitars for 4 decades and wanted to "experiment" with acoutics. My main desire was to compare the sound and style of this music venue. I'm getting used to playing steel strings and stuggling with the narrower neck, but this instrument has great sound quality and holds tune amazingly well for being so new. I have the same problem with the pick guard cosmetics and there's some blemishes in the finishes I would prefer didn't exist. Thought of sending it back, but for $80 delivered and with such great sound I know this will fullfill my buying criteria perfectly. I can't believe the price:performance ratio this instrument delivers.

 "great learning tool" 2010-06-07
By Louis Marino (Bakersfield, CA USA)
I own two of these. I am a music teacher and a performing musician. I use one for teaching and one for band songs. The speed control makes it possible to slow the tempo down for students. The sound quality suffers when adjustments are made, but it is still good enough to play along with. For my band practice, I am able to put the song in the singer's key, and also to make fine adjustments for recordings that are not exactly tuned to standard pitch. You can plug your instrument directly into it,listen through headphones, and not disturb anyone with the noise. There are a lot of built in effects for the guitar, but I rarely use them because their quality is mediocre. This unit is a great learning tool, but the sound quality suffers when adjustments are made, so I only gave it four stars. I would love to hear something like this that sounds normal when changes are made in tempo and pitch!

"My playing still stinks, but it is not the Tascam's fault." 2010-05-26
By Kayaking Swimmer (Nashville, TN United States)
As the reviewers (with more talent than me have said), this is a very good product. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the machined aluminum case, very sturdy. It works as intended, and when you use the slow function in all but the slowest settings, the sound remains very good. It is also very versatile, you can listen through headphone and play acoustic along, you can plug electric through the Tascam and listen through phones, and you can plug your guitar into your practice amp and use a separate cable to plug the Tascam into the import jack of the amp. I use the same cable I use to plug my iPod into the input of my pickup stereo. In fact, sometimes at lunchtime, I go out and play my guitar into trainer, and the trainer into my truck stereo and play through my Bose in the parking lot. Like I said, very versatile.

Here are the two reasons that I cannot give it five stars: first the user interface is good for the song (or playlist) you are playing at the time, but other parts of the menu system are very cumbersome. And secondly, you will have to buy the power supply separately. You can charge it through a USB port and you cannot use it while it is charging. The rechargeable feature is nice but does not last long. It seems like it is always out of power when I want to use it. The power supply is not cheap either.

 "Unbelievable Guitar Tool" 2010-02-15
By Vestige (PA)
Ok, I will do my best to answer everyone's questions that aren't asked here yet, in which I also had before I purchased this item. This trainer is just amazing. It helps you out in so many ways. First off, this CAN be used simply as a portable amp, exactly as the "Dean Stack in the Box". I know I'm not reviewing that item, but I would like to give some information about it. The Dean stack in the box is a great portable headphone amp. It has great volume, great distortion, and most of all (in which no one else covers) it carries through great pinch harmonics great. Unlike the portable pignose amp, where it does not carry through pinch harmonics one bit. The Dean in a box though can be a pain changing the 9v battery, which can lead to the wires breaking, wich is what happened to me. It was still an amazing product though, with amazing sound, and amazing pinch harmonic carry through.

Now, with that said, it leads me to this. THIS guitar trainer, has GREAT sustain also, and carrys through pinch harmonics just like a normal amp, and jsut like dean in the box. They will not die out like the pignose amp. Also, it has a rechargeable battery in it, so there are no wires to rip off, like dean in the box while changing a battery. This is also built like a tank. Super tough and durable. Makes you want to take good care of it right away. The rechargable battery on it also lasts a long time. I would say well over many many hours.

I want to clarify what exactly the guitar cancelling feature does. It does not cancel the guitar out, so you can substitute your own. It instead pushes all other sound (vocals, drums, etc) into the background (which is dim but still heard) while the guitar in the track shines through so you can hear it clearly and study it more, note for note. Let me tell you, it works very very well. Like one reviewer said, you do hear wayyy more than you have heard before. And this is coming from me, a guitarist of many years, whom has an ear for music, and picks up on every single note and plays by ear. I was even very amazed.

I will now do the best I can to break everything down into all the positive parts of owning this trainer, as there are no disadvantages that I have found:

* This trainer CAN be used as a portable headphone amp, without any song playing in the background, and it does have many amp effects, from clean, to overdrive and distortion for metal (which I play). It has great affects like reverb, chorus, flanger, overdrive, etc.

* Is not cheap, like other portable devices, so no wires will break off changing batteries, since you simply dont have any batteries to change.

* Built very strong and durable.

* It DOES let you create sub-folders, so you can put entire folders into it and sort by artist or albums, instead of having one long list ot a thousand tracks.

* Guitar cancelling feature (as described above) works fantastic.

* While playing a track, you can adjust the volume of the track playback, and your guitar volume, so if the track volume, or guitar volume is higher than the other, you can equalize them at the same volume, or make your guitar volume louder, or the track volume louder.

* You can slow the track speed down 50%, which is amazing. You can also keep the pitch the same, so whether you speed the track up or slow it down, it wont sound like a chipmunk, or someone from a horror movie. It keeps the original tone. You can, however, turn this function off.

* You can turn the pitch up or down, so if it is in standard e tuning, you can chance the tuning of the song. Although it WILL NOT drop all the way down to drop d tuning or anything like that, it still works great.

* You can quickly pick a start and stop point for it to start looping, so if there is a solo, or any part like that, that you want to keep going over and over until you learn it, you can loop it.

* You can create a playlist, just like on an mp3 player.

* This can be used as an mp3 player (although I never would, since it's expensive, and I never want to break it.

* Has a ton of storage. About 900 MB worth (actually a hair more.

So all in all, this trainer is simply amazing! It does exactly what it says it does, and a whole lot more. Even if I didn't need it for a trainer, but was simply looking for a portable headphone amp for travelling, I would easily choose this over dean stack in the box or anything else. I was not disappointed one single bit. I love this thing.

Hope this helps! Enjoy!

I bought this for my husband because he travels a lot and takes his guitar with when he does. This way he can practice at the level he does when he is at home without a bulky piece of equipment. This is about the size of an ipod. He loves it and says it works great!

The retailer I bought it from on Amazon was great as well. Shipped fast, even during the busy holiday season.

I have used the Tascam CD trainers for many years and I bought one of these MP3 trainers when they came out. I liked using the MP3 files instead of messing with CDs. However, the controls on the MPGT1 were kind or crappy and never work as well as the play, stop, rewind, loop, controls on TASCAM's CD players. The menu system is awkward and the big bumpy wheel control is just a crappy control.

"Stiff price for mediocre tone quality." 2009-10-04
By Masked Avenger (A few miles east of I-75)
I asked my wife to order this set for my birthday as I can get a set of Martins installed for about the same price as the Elixirs in the package. I was curious to see how long they would hold a fresh intonation for their premium price.

After installation & tuning, I immediately noticed the strings lacked the extended "ring" of a fresh set Martins, actually sounding like they had been casually played for a couple of weeks or so. That's O.K. for rehearsal, but a bit too dull for performance. So far they sound the same after a month of playing- perhaps that's the advantage, but I suspect the advertised special process dulls the sound one would expect from a fresh set of Martins.

"The best sound on my Taylor 355" 2007-01-28
By D. Reinstein (Fairfax, CA USA)
I have tried many types of steel strings. My Taylor 355 came delivered with these - and though I have tried several others, I have returned to them. Their ease of play (smoothness to fret and finger) and light but rich tonality makes them a good choice for your 12-string. Haven't tried 'em yet? Pick up a set - they ARE different and, in many ways, better than the more standard Phosphor Bronze strings that were the best before these came along.

I LOVE my guitar!! I am a new guitar player with absolutely no experience! I just wanted the cheapest, nicest guitar I could find to see if I even like the instrument. I could not be happier! I am always playing this guitar! The sound is extremely nice - once you get it tuned. If you are a beginner, I would recommend getting an electronic tuner - it was a life saver for me.

The color of the guitar is very nice, although when I got mine, it had a few scratches and imperfections on it, but nothing major. I am able to overlook them because I love it so much. I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone who is a beginner, and to anyone who likes pink!

I was hesitant to buy this after reading other reviews, but for the money you pay this is a much better guitar than you can find in the general stores like Walmart. We bought this for my boyfriend's little girl (only 9) who wanted to learn how to play the guitar. It is not professional quality by any means. But it's full size, sounds great and was an overall great purchase. This is much better than going out and paying 200.00 on an expensive guitar and then realizing she doesn't really want to play anyhow and it never gets touched again. Instead, when she opened this on Christmas morning, she was so happy. The bright pink was a definite plus with her!! and she is playing away after just a few minutes. Its a nice starter guitar.

 "Good overall" 2010-07-31
By Sabas Gonzalez (Venezuela)
I bought these strings in order to avoid some sliding noises when moving fingers between frets and because they were supposed to be soft (to the fingers), but noise, althoug it decreased to some degree, it's still there (perhaps I need more technique, I admit that), and regarding softness, well, almost the same as the ald strings, but then again, I'm used to nylon strings, so first I must play at least for a solid six months before complaining on that, I think. So I suppose that these strings are good overall, and stay in tune after playing. I'll try later other strings (silk) and see wich fit my style and likes.

 "Great Strings" 2006-10-02
By Pedro Villarroel (Maturin, Monagas Venezuela)

This was the third set of strings I bought for my acoustic guitar. The first one was a Martin phosphor Bronze light, great strings with a great sound, as I was (and still am) learning to play the guitar, these strings helped me to build the necessary calluses on my finger tips but they were killing my fingers in the process, and it was really hard for me to bar some notes on the upper frets as they were really hard to push on. So I decided to sacrifice a little sound and go to nylon strings, so I bought a D'Addario EJ45 Pro Arte set, they were a blessing for my hurting fingers but having heard the beautiful sound produced by the phosphor strings made me miss them a lot. I still wasn't satisfied, I wanted the sound coming from the metallic strings but also knew that I just couldn't play with the set I already had, so I spent hours and hours in Amazon searching for the right strings, that's when I read a review about the Blue Steel Light being the perfect ones because of the sound they produced and because they were as soft as they can be, so I took the risk and ordered them, and perfect they are!, the sound is just great and my fingers are not all complaining and I can even play bar notes anywhere on the neck, just what I was looking for.

"Great sound but lots of G tuning issues" 2010-07-30
By Zachary T. Wolfe (Mesa, AZ USA)
I had never used these strings before I got my new Taylor 114CE guitar. Had the guitar setup and the technician recommended these Ernie Ball Earthwood strings because of the sound and the type of playing I told him I did. After the initial setup with the new strings I played for about 2 weeks and had noticeable tuning issues with the G but didn't think a whole lot about it. I brought the guitar back to the shop to get the action lowered. He replaced the strings with another pair of these Ernie Ball Earthwood strings. After about 3 more weeks of playing I finally realized this out-of-tune G string issue was getting out of control. I did some reading and realized others have experienced the same issue with these strings. The G is not a wound string so it always seems to sound a little "off" even when in tune. I would tune my guitar, play for about a minute and then re-check my tuning again. Not once did the G stay in tune...all the other strings were perfect. For the sake of experimentation, I replaced only the G string with an alternate string I had lying around and have no tuning issues whatsoever anymore. When the strings are in tune, they sound awesome. But constant tuning isn't an option when trying to play live.

I am a new guitarist but a musician of 15 years. I tried these strings out just to get a good idea of what other strings my sound like compared to the elixir brand. In my experience I have found elixir to have the best tone as well as longevity. The tone of these strings for my fender acoustic electric was a significant drop in quality. The tone is mediocre with the g string having a very metallic sound.
