Elixir® Strings give acoustic guitar players something they have long been waiting for; phosphor bronze strings that keep their tonal "sweet spot" over the entire life of the string. The consensus among many musicians is that phosphor bronze strings offer the most sensitive, expressive tone that brings out the very best in guitars-virtually taking them to a higher level of play. However, that tone can be short-lived. Elixir® Strings has solved this classic conundrum by applying an ultra-thin layer of NANOWEB® Coating to protect the string's windings hence preserving the coveted phosphor bronze tone. Gauges: 012; 016; 024w; 032w; 042w; 053w

I love elixir! I absolutly love the sound of these, but they break on me after two sundays of playing. they sound great! if you like to strum lightly or finger pick you'll love them! if you are a slightly aggressive strummer like me you'll break them.

 "The Best Yet" 2009-11-03
By popmusicfan (northeastern Ohio)
Elixir's Nanoweb Light Phosphor Bronze strings are the best strings I've ever used on my Alvarez acoustic -- a guitar I've now owned for over 30 years. They certainly are the longest lasting strings that seem to be out there, they have a nice punchy tone, and are easy on the fingers. Unlike the Elixir Extra Lights that I found to be lacking in bass and just a tad on the mushy side on a short-scale guitar, these seem like an ideal combination. I may buy another set soon and restring the short-scale instrument with lights. Compared with some brands and gauges of more "old school" strings, there may be a little less bass response, but these sound good, pretty even through the set, and the convenience of not having to change strings so often outweighs whatever minor issues that one might have with the ping of the low E string.

By Carlen Dixon (Hazard, KY)
The case is really well-made - especially considering the under $40 price tag. I have a Floyd Rose Speedloader guitar which has a longer headstock - so I was a bit worried about it fitting. But it fits with plenty of room to spare.

 "awesome" 2010-02-05
By Ray (Santa Barbara, CA USA)
This guitar case is an incredible deal! First of all, it is a hard case, well-lined and well-built, so it just seems to be much more protective than those soft-sided, padded soft cases. Second, the price is unbelievable: With free shipping and the sale price, the true cost of this hard case is just a matter of a few dollars more than that of a far less protective, and frankly less attractive, soft case. In addition, this case is lockable (keys included), for even more security for your guitar. Finally, there is a separate large internal storage compartment resting under the the guitar storage area, for all your accessories. (The seller should highlight these additional selling points in the description of this item.) Your guitar deserves the best protection affordable, and this is it, in my opinion.

 "Some Issues" 2010-01-20
By Conrad McConrad (Utah)
I ordered 2 of these cases, one electric and the other for a bass. They are the same case, just one is bigger. The latches don't ever seem quite closed, but they are secure. The handle doesn't feel secure either, but it's not failed. Biggest issue is QA. Mine came with tears and rips and the compartment box wasn't screwed in. You could see the screw, but it wasn't connected to the box. My wife didn't want to hassle with returns and since it technically still works, I didn't press it. The electric case is maybe a bit too universal and could use some added neck stability. I usually found my neck out of the groove and it was moving around inside the case. I guess for [...] bucks, it's a pretty good deal and it does protect your guitar, if it stays put.

 "Damaged goods" 2009-11-06
By luna
This guitar played well in a local shop, and an out of state relative bought this for my daughter from Amazon. It arrived quickly from Amazon. There was no padding or protection in the original packaging, and the original packaging was not protected either. The original packaging was battered and torn. The lacquer and finish on the guitar are chipped where the neck is joined to the body, and on closer inspection the neck is actually pulling away from the body. This is a terrible way to ship a guitar. Because the neck is not secure, the guitar will not stay tuned at all and the action at the upper frets is too high even for me. I am working with Daisy Rock directly to rectify the situation. I hope the shipping department at Amazon will change the way they package this product for future customers.

"Not very happy at all!!!" 2009-08-04
By Truez (Ohio, USA)
well we just got this guitar tonight - my 9 yr old daughter has been anxiously waiting for it!! She sold her own toys to purchase it - and it wont hold a tune at all!! We tried to tune it (her father and I) my husband also plays acoustic guitar - so he knows how to tune it. And his dad came over - who has played all types of guitars for many, many years and he said it wil NEVER be able to hold a tune!! My daughter was so upset!! Now my hopes is to send it back and get another one (and hopes that Amazon DOES NOT charge me for shipping!!) Maybe we will luck out and it just happen to be this one messed up!! I checked several reviews on this guitar and the tuning issue was of some concern but there were so many more good reviews I thought it would be fine - guess not on this one!!!!

"Great value, but color is not exactly bubble-gum pink!!!" 2009-05-30
By Boola Boola (Suburban DC)
I bought this set for my daughter's 6th birthday after she begged for a pink guitar for more than a year. Overall, we were both very happy with it. I wasn't sure if she was serious about wanting to learn to play, so I didn't want to spend a fortune on a "real" guitar, but when I found this for $49, I was happy to buy the real thing instead of a toy! Also, after reading other reviews that mentioned how fast this company ships, I opted for standard shipping, even though I was in a bit of a time crunch. I'm glad I did because the package came in RECORD time (no pun intended!), and I didn't have to waste money for rush shipping.

The only disappointment with this guitar was the color. The image on my computer screen definitely looked bubble gum pink to me, and when it arrived, I was happy to see that the color in the picture on the outside of the box was exactly the same bubble gum pink as on my computer (sort of the color of Pepto!). But when I opened the box, I was annoyed to find that the guitar was actually sort of a hot coral color -- much brighter and much more orange-y than in the picture. It's still in the pink family, but not at all the girly candy pink I expected. My DD adores pink, and while she didn't mention the color at first, a few minutes later while playing with it, she cocked her head to the side and said, "You know, Mommy, it's not exactly pink." She was right, but I decided to let it go. It's still a great bargain and perfect for a wannabe Hannah Montana!

 "Helpful Measurements" 2010-03-18
By Quality Seeker
For those of you frustrated with the lack of information on this bag, here are some measurements. I looked all over the web and even called a few sellers, but nobody could tell me the exact size!! The measurements below are of my own acoustic, which fits snugly and safely in this bag with about 3/4" of play all around.

Approximate INSIDE dimensions:

Bag Height (inside the whole thing): 37"

Body height (the height of the body): 18"

Neck Height (narrow portion between the top of the body to top of bag): 19"

Lower bout (horizontal across the widest portion of the body if it were standing up): 14 1/4"

Upper Bout (horizontal across the top of the body): 11"

Review: Good durable material; not as thickly padded as I'd hoped. Padding is about only 1/2", but this is a GIG BAG, meaning a carrying bag for responsible players, and not a CASE. It won't protect your guitar from a good chunk onto the bed or floor like a hard case might, but offers enough protection so that you can transport it without unnecessary worry. Case has one back strap, a music book pocket on the front, and a nice handle on the side. A good, durable bag.

"Good Bag for 3/4 Sized Guitars" 2010-02-06
By Loveguitar (Georgia, USA)
I bought this bag to make it easy for my daughter to carry her 3/4 sized classical guitar. It will easily hold the guitar and the pouch on the front is big enough to hold any accessories, method books, etc... and I like that a lot. It is lightly padded but understand that any padded case is not a good substitute for a hard shell case. The inside is lined with a soft silk-like polyester material which should not scratch the guitar. The zipper on the side seems durable enough but I would still be careful while zipping it closed because if you break the zipper the case is basically useless. Again, a gig bag will offer some protection to the instrument and makes it easier to carry, but if you want to seriously protect your expensive guitars then fork over the money for a quality hard shell case.

It has a regular handle to carry the bag like a suitcase, and a quality strap to carry on one's back. So far I'm fine with this particular bag and expect it to hold up for the time my daughter is playing this particular guitar.

I bought one little case, I do not need 20 catalogs of music products coming to my house. I can not stand getting catalogs I do not request.

 "I like it" 2010-03-19

Keeping in mind that this guitar is meant to be an inexpensive guitar, you really can't go wrong.

It really does sound very good, and is way better than I thought it would be. No, it's not a Taylor, but it's not a toy, either.

The neck on this one feels perfect out of the box, w/no adjustments, but I haven't put my favorite strings (.013 Elixir Polywebs) on it yet.

You definitely get what you pay for. (Gig bag is pretty cheep, though, and I haven't tried the tuner)

I recieved this as a gift for christmas, as I am learning to play guitar. I'm very happy with the sound and the play-ability of this guitar. I had no problems with workmanship quality or missing accessories. Understanding that this is a learning instrument and not a concert quality guitar, I'm very pleased. I will definitely replace the "gig bag" with a hard case, but other than that, this is a fun guitar to play and learn on as a beginner.

It's Christmas morning and my wife is very excited that I got her a guitar to learn to play. We opened the package and then played the DVD after reading the case that reads "On this DVD, an expert teacher will guide you through ALL (my emphasis) of the skills you need to get started today, from tuning to fingering and picking techniques to open-position and moveable chords."

Yep, it has all of that BUT the tuning instructions!!!! OK, back to the internet to find tuning instructions...

I might update this later once we get it tuned.

"Great deal depending on need" 2009-12-10
By J. Allen (Kern Co, CA)
[...]

There must be a few versions, because some seem to have a stand and some not.

Mine was made in Indonesia, not China.

The construction and sound at this price is very good.

The assessories are poor to fair. Get a Korg CA-30 chromatic tuner which is not a lot of money.

Change the strings to lighter gauge coated strings. They are worth the extra $.

I highly recommend this for a beginner or player with limited funds.

I changed out the stock Fender strings which sound okay but leave a lot of corrosion on your fingers.

I have been using a lighter (11-52 and 12-53) gauge coated Ernie Ball set which I like.

After awhile, three weeks, I started getting a fret buzz on the two highest strings when fretting near the nut (low) end.

After some messing around with the tension a bit, I noticed that the nuts holding the tuners were loose and tightened them which helped. That could be because I live in a very dry climate and the wood shrank.

Loosening the tension rod about a quarter turn solved my problem.

Going to the lighter strings probably relieved some force on the neck, so caused a slight "hump" in the neck.

Loosening the tension rod allowed the neck to flatten.

If you have buzzing at the frets, try flexing the neck back and forward.

If the buzz goes away when the is neck flexed forward, loosen (to the left) the tensioning nut.

If the buzz goes away when you pull the neck back toward you, then tighten the nut.

Adjust in 1/8 turn steps or you can really damage the instrument.

There may be a slight dead spot, play, between tightening and loosening when adjusting the tension.

If you do not understand this then do not attempt the adjustment.

Take it to a music store if you are not handy.

Even expensive guitars can need adjustment due to humidity, string changes, or high action, so it is nothing to criticize this guitar about!

As far as the missing stuff, obviously open box, no tension adjustment, and other comments of a negative nature, I wouldn't accept any of that either, nor would I try to correct it twice. If the guitar played and looked fine, I wouldn't send it back. The assessories are not a deal maker. A decent guitar is. Fender should pay more attention these complaints. Just because it is cheap doesn't mean it has to be crap.

Mine looks, works and sounds better than I would have expected. The action is pretty good too. It is not a Taylor or Martin. If I wanted one of those I would get it from a music store.

 "Tricky For Beginners" 2010-01-20
By B. Sells (Way Up North, NY United States)
I bought the Axiom 25 thinking that it would be better to buy a higher-end (relatively speaking) piece of equipment for adding midi to my recordings than to buy something that's easier to use that I'd want to upgrade from immediately. The keyboard, pads, knobs, etc are all nice - responsive, do what they should, etc.

Before I get started, I want to mention that I DO read the manuals for devices and software to try and get started on the right foot. The problem(s) I had, however, involved mostly the lack of a comprehensive manual and the lack of good tech support for the Axiom, and the non-intuitive way some of the software and settings work. If you have any trouble setting it up, and you go the M-Audio forums for help, you're likely to get a response along the lines of "you can do _______ in the Enigma software" but there will be no explanation as to how you go about doing it, just that you theoretically can, somehow. The manual that you can print out is only about 30 pages long and really doesn't have much in it that's useful other than listing some of the pre-loaded settings and things like that. With many devices like this, you have to read the manual to get anywhere, but when the manual's as short and vague as this, it's hard to get where you're going! I'm using the Ableton Live Lite software that came with it, as I'm assuming many people new to digital recording will (and I don't plan on purchasing recording software until I know damned well exactly what I want out of it, so I'm giving Ableton a whirl to see if I like it better than Cubase), and it took some time to get things working the way I wanted them to. If you're new to digital recording and Midi, as I am, you'll probably be pulling your hair out for a while with this thing. The Enigma software, by the way, isn't as easy as M-Audio and some users claim - I'm finally getting somewhere just using Ableton and the Axiom to "steer" things. Maybe this will change in the future as I learn more, but I kinda doubt it. The biggest hurdle I had was in just figuring out how to get the pads and keys to play separate instruments - I knew that they had to be/were set to different Midi channels and I needed to set the software the same way, but it took quite a while of playing around and doing some of the tutorials in Ableton to figure it out (and even they didn't answer a lot of my questions but they definitely got me pointed in the right direction). Again, I'm a "noob" when it comes to this stuff, so I'm probably worthy of condescension from more experienced users (at least that 's what I've experienced!), but it seems to me like there should be better answers to common problems like these out there!

So, I guess all in all that this seems to be a nice, solid piece of home recording equipment, and for my use I'm pretty sure that it's got lots of things that I'll either come to use as I progress or won't be useful to the style of music that I make (but be glad that I've got the versatility should I need it), and that I'll be happy with it for the foreseeable future (at least until I move into a bigger house!) but, fellow "noobs" be warned - you're going to be doing A LOT of tinkering, looking around on-line, and mumbling swear words to yourself before some functions start to make sense!

 "Great For Its Purpose" 2009-11-24

Looking at this keyboard it is a great midi controller. In order to use it in a Digital Audio Workstation I would suggest looking up videos on youtube and also downloading Enigma. This keyboard is great to throw on your desk as it doesn't take up a lot of space. The disadvantages are the number of keys. Know that you aren't going to be able to be using much of two hands with this it's pretty much for melodies only. You can go back with your left hand and record that as well but I would say you would probably do yourself a huge favor by buying a full keyboard if that's what you're looking for. I use this for Pro Tools as a desk keyboard only. Works great.
