I'm reviewing for my son. He thinks this guitar is a great buy. He thought it took a bit too long to arrive, but he was very excited to get it and may have been somewhat impatient. He says his very expensive Gibson sounds better, but says this is a good guitar for the price--the case is a bit flimsy though. Also we found this price to be better than any other we could find by $50!

I've been going all out with creating a solid instrument base for my sound studio. I bought a capo for every guitar I own. For my acoustic, I purchased this particular capo. It's what I call a "c-clamp" although it's probably not a good description. It's fast and effective at changing the location of the guitar nut. No buzzing (unless it's caused by your own playing) and if you remove it after ever use, the rubber always resets itself so that the string marks aren't permanently there. Good technology, good engineering.

Back in 2007, I wrote a glowing review of the Intelli IMT500 Backlit Clip Style Tuner. I stand by that review. The Intelli is vastly superior to the Intellitouch PT1 Tuner and one need only go to local jams or picking parties to see how the Intelli and rebranded Intellis have taken over. I've purchased a half-dozen of the Intellis so that I'd have one in each of my regularly used cases. I have not had a chance to try the Intellitouch PT10 Mini Clip-on Chromatic Tuner, but it looks so similar to the Intelli that it's hard not to conclude that Intellitouch had to introduce it to remain viable.



Recently a friend let me try his Zoid. I found that the color changing display was such a helpful aid in tuning that I went out and bought three--one for my most frequently used guitar, one for my practice area, and one for my music partner.



Back in 2007 and up 'till now, the Intelli was a "must have" even (especially?) if one owned an Intellitouch. The Zoid is not like that, that is, I'm not recommending that one replace every Intelli with a Zoid, but if one has neither, I'd give the nod to the Zoid.

The Sabine Zoid is much easier to read and use than my Intelli clip-on tuner was (that one only lasted four month before having a seizure). The Zoid's LCD meter is more stable and I like the red-to-green indicator. Very quick tuning... it picks up on open strings instantly; no need for 12th fret harmonics as with the Intelli. The mic option is a great feature; I can leave the Zoid clipped to my music stand, unless I need to take it along somewhere, and it works just as well with the mic as when clipped on. I was afraid it would be too big, but its no more obstrusive than the Intelli. There's no sympathetic buzzing like the Intelli did either.



The seller, Musical Instrument Haven, mailed it immediately. I ordered on Thursday and had it on Monday...and no shipping charge! Great!

I like Kyser capos anyway, because they are convenient and work well. And there is almost always a Kyser capo clipped onto the headstock of my guitar. But THIS is the one I looked for specifically, because it is pink (and because some of the proceeds go toward breast cancer research, a disease that has left a mark on my family). I got tired of people (mostly guys) "borrowing" my capo in a song circle or at an open mic, and then forgetting about it and walking off with it. After all, mostly everybody with a Kyser capo has a black one and they all look alike. I actually debated other colors that would stand out... bright red, blue... but then realized that if I got a pink one, it might be a little daunting for the guys. And my capo might have less of a chance of walking off (and at least if it did, it would be pretty noticeable). I've got a pink one in the case of the two guitars I use regularly. The leftover black ones are thrown now into the cases of my travel/junk guitars, and lying around on the coffee table so that visitors to my home are free to pick one up and use it if they must. But nobody is going to be allowed to touch the pink ones!
